Roth&Co is looking to hire a senior associate to join our Chicago audit department.
Qualified candidate will be responsible for:
-Compiling, preparing, auditing and analyzing financial statements and notes to the financial systems using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS)
-Developing audit programs, testing financial controls, and utilizing QuickBooks
-Reviewing balance sheets and income statements to ensure they are in accordance with accounting standards
-Gathering system narratives to understand significant processes and controls that have a material affect on the financial statements
-Performing analytic review procedures, materiality computation and documentation of significant financial systems
-Conducting detailed financial testing including reviewing bank reconciliation, confirmation of balances with the bank, analyzing allowance for bad debts for resources, confirming outstanding receivables, reviewing investment policies, obtaining detailed fixed asset schedules, reviewing depreciation calculation for resources, performing physical inventory of assets and reviewing deferred flow and outflow of resources
-Testing refullness of revenue and expenses to ensure that they are fairly stated
-Performing analytic review procedures of expenditures and receipts
-Identifying significant variances that may affect risk factors for non-compliance
-Developing audit procedures to test compliance with mandates
-Performing interviews with staff to determine their knowledge or allegations of fraud or abuse
-Identifying controls that are not operating affectively
-Auditing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS)
-Examination to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
-Analyzing accounting and financial records and methods
-Preparing audit plans and performing audit procedures in accordance with GAAS
-Reviewing clients’ internal control procedures and reporting potential deficiencies, duplication of effort, fraud or lack of compliance with governmental regulation and developing management letters to recommend improvements to clients’ internal control procedures
-Preparing findings that include components such as condition, criteria, cause, significance and recommendation to correct the finding identified
-Developing management letters to recommend improvements to clients’ financial conditions and internal control procedures
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in accounting or accountancy
-Two years’ experience in position or in accounting/auditing
Special requirements: Experience with preparing and auditing financial statements using GAAP and GAAS, developing audit programs, testing financial controls and utilizing Quickbooks.
