Join Our Team as a Quality Control Manager!
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Manager to oversee the monitoring, inspection, and continuous improvement of the firm’s quality control system. This role supports compliance with AICPA standards, provides technical support to engagement teams, and assists with peer review preparation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AICPA auditing standards, audit methodology, GAAP, and quality control frameworks, along with the interpersonal skills needed to influence change and support the firm’s continued evolution.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control Monitoring and Reporting
- Assist with the annual assessment of the effectiveness of the firm’s System of Quality Management.
- Perform post issuance inspections in accordance with the firm’s monitoring policies.
- Perform pre issuance reviews for selected higher risk engagements in a timely and organized manner, ensuring all matters are addressed prior to issuance.
- Prepare periodic monitoring reports summarizing findings and present results to firm leadership.
- Participate in and contribute to partner review meetings.
- Assist with the development of rotating “top five” quality improvement focus areas.
- Inspect engagement files for compliance with identified “top five” focus areas in a timely and efficient manner.
- Promote compliance through a collaborative and inclusive communication style that emphasizes buy in.
Audit Methodology Consulting
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the firm’s audit methodology and applicable AICPA auditing standards.
- Consult regularly with engagement team members regarding audit methodology matters, including risk assessment, sampling, independence, and the scope of substantive procedures.
Peer Review Management
- Assist with coordination of the firm’s triennial peer review process.
- Prepare and organize required peer review documentation and review binders.
Templates and Policy Updates
- Annually update engagement letters, representation letters, and report templates.
- Review and update the firm’s Quality Control Policies and Procedures annually and distribute to all personnel.
- Update specialized EBPAQC and GAQC policies and distribute to applicable staff.
- Monitor the firm’s client acceptance and continuance process
Accounting Technical Support and Research
- Provide guidance to staff on technical accounting and auditing matters while encouraging independent research and professional judgment.
- Consult with partners on standards and technical matters as requested.
- Stay abreast of Accounting Standards Updates and prepare firmwide communications for relevant changes.
Professional Development
- Develop and deliver internal CPE courses as needed.
- Remain current on emerging professional trends and issues through ongoing continuing education and industry research.
Qualifications
- Active CPA license required.
- Strong knowledge of audit methodology, auditing standards, and quality management standards.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to influence outcomes through collaboration and professional credibility.
- Experience with PPC tools and templates preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across teams.
