Bookkeeper, Israel

Summary: Roth&Co is looking to hire a full-time bookkeeper to work from our Jerusalem office. Candidate would be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, managing 401k contributions and other related tasks. This role involves meticulous attention to detail, handling confidential information with discretion, and supporting the U.S. accounting department by managing related bookkeeping tasks.

 

Key Responsibilities:

– Payroll Processing:

  • Maintaining payroll data, including timely entering of new hires and terminated employees
  • Processing payroll on a weekly basis as required
  • Managing and maintaining payroll data, including employee information, salary changes, and payroll deductions
  • Calculating and verifying pay rates, hours worked, and other relevant payroll information
  • Following directions and changes from Human Resources for changes to payroll
  • Preparing termination reconciliations of all employee unpaid PTO as well as money owed

 

– Compliance and Reporting:

  • Reviewing payroll reports and quarterly reports to assure deductions and salaries are reported correctly
  • Addressing and resolving any payroll discrepancies or issues with accuracy and timeliness
  • Preparing all necessary reports (including year-end) reviewing W-2s and 1099s, and assisting in audits as needed
  • Recording and monitoring employee absences for FMLA or other unpaid leave and reconciling time accruals accordingly

 

– Recordkeeping and Documentation:

  • Maintaining and organizing payroll records, 401k records/files and tax-related documents
  • Reconciling payroll-related accounts and preparing journal entries for payroll transactions
  • Assisting in preparing and analyzing payroll-related reports for management review

 

Additional Bookkeeping Tasks:

  • Supporting general bookkeeping duties such as accounts payable, reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Managing subsidiary and miscellaneous accounts, as well as processing and reconciling credits and debits
  • Maintaining records for employee loans and repayments
  • Collaborating with accounting team members on financial tasks as required

 

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or GED required; associates or bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a payroll bookkeeper or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll and bookkeeping principles (minimum 2 years)
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and general ledger systems

Skills:

  • Fluency in English (proficiency in Hebrew preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes and reporting requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • Effective communication skills to interact with other departments including management
